| More About the Friends | <*dv_3*>Friends Campout
For the past three years the Friends have held a campout in the beauty of Blue Mound State Park. We have a great time with games, food, stories and fun. We use this opportunity to educate potential members of what we do and to appreciate the members that do so much. You can come for the day, for dinner (pot luck of course) or for the whole weekend! 2005 Campout: September 16-18 After settling in on Friday night, we enjoyed a well-supplied potluck. Numerous salads, casseroles and fresh melons were accompanied by Camperific Quesidillas. At the conclusion of dinner, the editors of Weehaukaja Times were proud to present awards to outstanding individual Friends members. We followed the presentations up with a relaxing sit by the fire. A member brought challenging survival questions from a popular board game which created quite a stir and a lot of laughs! On Saturday, we prepared for the kids games on top of the mound. Thanks to Mark, Judy, Pat, Terry, Brian, Beth and Eric for their organization and enthusiasm! Games included: potatoe sack races, egg and spoon carry races, bean-bag toss, kickball, money dig, and piata. In the end, about twenty five kids showed up with great interest. <*dv_1*>Saturday night we enjoyed chili, while everybody brought a topping or side. A brief meeting was followed by a beautiful night under the stars and a very bright moon. <*dv_0*>And once again... We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that attended and hope to see you next year. <*dv_2*>2004 Campout: September 11-12
<*dv_4*>The Friends Ambassadors got up early and personally invited the campers in the park to the potluck. We had between 16 and 18 campers show up for the activities. Kate Zurlo-Cuva and Bridget Brown where also our guests for the day. After eating a hardy meal we engaged in a game of jeopardy with the questions all relating to the outdoors and Blue Mound State Park.
